Health Hazards

A short while after the Petrochemical Complex No. 1 became fully operational there was a dramatic increase in respiratory tract diseases among local residents.
Serious health hazards were noticed caused by continual emissions of sulfur dioxide (SO2) from factories with low stack height and also due to high concentrations of atmospheric pollutants brought intoIsozu mainly by downdrafts created by winter winds from the northwest.
