One of the support groups, the Association to Document Environmental Pollution Incidents, conducted study sessions and other activitiestogether with the local residents of Isozuto protest against environmental pollution.In order to link these activities with those being taken to support the lawsuit, the Militia Against Environmental Pollution in Yokkaichi was created in 1971.
At a study session held in the same year, it was proposed that a second lawsuitbe filed, and preparations were begun with the Shiohama Mothers' Association to Protect Children from Environmental Pollution in the forefront. In 1972, however, a settlement was reached through voluntary arbitration and plans to file a second lawsuitwere abandoned.
