Efforts by Pollution Victims and their Families
The Yokkaichi Air Pollution Victims Association formed in 1968 lobbied the authorities to seek help and resolve issues faced by the pollution victims.
They cooperated with other victim support groups across Japan to protest the government's decision to review the list of areas particularly affected by pollution under the revisedthe Law Concerning Pollution-related Health Damage Compensation and other Measures.
To this day, the Yokkaichi Pollution Victims and Families Association and the Isozu Association of Yokkaichi Air Pollution Victims continue to hold memorial services and other related events.
