Law concerning the Relief of Pollution-related Health Damage and the City's Response 2625

Since 1965 Yokkaichi City had been independently paying air pollution victims' medical expenses, but when the Japanese government passed the Law concerning the Relief of Pollution-related Health Damage in 1970, responsibility for payment was transferred to the government.
Air pollution victims who had moved outside the city were however not eligible for relief from the government and continued to receive compensation from the city.
