Welcome to Kurube Village. About 2000 years ago, Kurube was one of the villages in Yokkaichi. Its strategic location in a hilly area overlooking the sea contributed greatly to the development of the village, including the construction of a large government office building some 500 years later. It is thought that villagers lived in primitive pit houses until around the twelfth century in Japanese history. Although it may seem that life in the village at the time lacked modern day conveniences, a closer study indicates living conditions from which contemporary lifestyles may have evolved.
